The Chalet at Mellowvean

We were out all day, so the cosy, spotless room with two single beds, a TV, tea and coffee facilities, and a hairdryer was just right. Breakfast was divine, with plenty to choose from, homemade bread and marmalade, and locally sourced produce. You preorder the night before. The garden is clearly a labour of love, and we were lucky enough to have Jenny show us around. She's very well travelled and active, and has visited all sorts of far-flung countries. She also raises lots of money for charity. The village is one of Cornwall's oldest and about four miles from St Agnes. The Miners Inn serves excellent food, though you'll need to book. Jenny kindly booked us a table. Our Guest House in St Agnes had been utterly diabolical, so Jenny was a lifesaver for taking us in at the last minute for two nights. Many thanks, Jenny. The fresh local food at breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade bread and preserves. We found the bed comfortable and the room cosy, and the house and gardens were lovely. The hosts gave us such personal attention and couldn't have done more. We'll recommend it to friends and family, and hope to come back ourselves.

A great chalet out in beautiful countryside, with excellent hosts. Highly recommended.
