The beer was top notch, and the young local people in the pool room were so pleasant. They chatted with us, and we never heard any swearing. The pub is clearly very well run, with friendly, helpful staff and excellent service. We'll definitely come back. We're in our 60s and enjoyed their company.

The staff were amazing, and everyone was cheerful. We all had a good laugh together, and I met some lovely people. Manager Marianne went out of her way to make us feel welcome when we spent the night at the stag hotel. The room was excellent too. It'll be an absolute pleasure to come back for a few nights. I actually felt a bit sad saying goodbye to everyone this afternoon. Keep up the fantastic work, folks. We'll both see you soon. Michelle

We'd stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was lovely, but returned a week ago and were so disappointed. On the phone, I was quoted £70 and said that was fine. When we arrived at 10.30pm, they asked for cash for the room straight away. My husband asked for two drinks, and before they were even in the glasses, they were asking for cash again. We were shown to the room, and when my husband asked about breakfast time, we were told they only serve it on Sunday mornings and there were places on the high street that did breakfast. The room's cleanliness was very disappointing, and I wouldn't have a shower. The staff were nice and helpful, but honestly, if it hadn't been so late, I would have asked for our money back and gone somewhere else.

The room was compact, but cosy, clean and nicely kept. We stopped here on the way back from our motorcycle tour of Scotland, and the bar food was lovely with attentive staff. A full breakfast was just what we needed to start the day. Would happily recommend it.

We came for a weekend to explore the area and would gladly stay here again. The staff were so friendly and happy to help with anything. Our room was a little small, though it had all we needed, including plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Breakfast was good too.
