We were in Nairn for the parkrun, and the start was only a couple of minutes away on foot. Town was about five minutes away too, with places to eat and a supermarket. The hotel itself was fine.

We only stopped in for a beer at first, but the decor caught our eye, so we checked the menu and ordered the haggis stack. It was excellent. A fair few other diners came in while we were there, and their meals looked good too.

I’d enjoyed the carvery on two earlier visits, so I brought a friend yesterday as a treat. This time the vegetables were nearly mush, including the parsnips, carrots and cauliflower, and the Yorkshire puddings were so papery we couldn’t eat them. They cleared everything away at 3:35 even though it’s meant to run until 4, so there was no chance of getting more. Nobody asked how the meal was, or I would have told them. I’m sorry, but I won’t be back. I guess you have to come early if you want a decent meal.

The beach is beautiful and just a short distance away. Our bedroom was clean and spacious, and the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The food was decent too.

There was a nice atmosphere, with a good choice of wine, beer and cider. We had the Sunday carvery and the beef was very nice.
