We enjoyed our short two-night stay this summer and liked Tali Ayer, even though we don't often stay at B&Bs. David and Rowena were welcoming and attentive. David was quite entertaining, and we had some good chats comparing Canada and Scotland. The home is beautiful and full of character, with pretty grounds, flowers, big trees and a large grassy area. Our room was spacious, clean and had a very comfortable bed, a mini fridge and a nice range of hot drinks. I wish we could get Galaxy hot chocolate in Canada. The bathroom was roomy and the shower was lovely, though water always seemed to get onto the floor, as if the glass enclosure wasn't quite long enough. There wasn't much bathroom storage or counter space, just a small three-tier floor shelf, pedestal sink and little rack above the toilet. The motion sensor lights came on full blast at night or in the morning, when a night light would have been enough. No air-conditioning, as we knew, and early August wasn't too hot, but we wished there were a fan for air flow since we didn't want to open the window. Finding Tali Ayer would have been difficult without Rowena's emailed directions. We didn't see a sign, the driveway comes in at the back, and the photos online show the front, which you can't see from either Millbank Crescent or Cawdoor Road. There don't seem to be house numbers. Parking was tight, as others have said, but okay for our rental Mercedes A180. Bigger vehicles would struggle. The walls are thin, so we could hear other guests talking and coughing, though fortunately it didn't bother us. I felt bad using the hairdryer in the bedroom later one night because there are no plugs for it in the bathroom and I figured guests could hear. The TV didn't work, but we weren't in the room much and forgot to mention it at checkout. The Venetian blinds wouldn't close all the way, but the curtains blocked the light well enough. Our bed had no flat sheet, which I think may be a Canadian thing. I was too hot under the duvet and too cold without it, so sleep was a bit restless. I forgot to ask for a sheet the second night, but next time I'd request one when booking. Rowena's breakfast was top notch. The fruit bowl was the most beautifully arranged and tasty I've ever had. The porridge, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, toast and everything else we tried were lovely. David was an attentive host, with Rowena stepping in whenever he needed to do something. I'm not much of a breakfast talker, so it took a little adjustment to the abundant conversation, but it was enjoyable. Nairn was a lovely small town, and I wish we'd had more time to explore. It doesn't have a ton of amenities, and Inverness isn't far away. Nearby, we especially liked Clava Cairns, the Culloden viaduct and the Culloden battlefield. Thanks for a lovely stay, hopefully we'll be back someday!

We felt right at home thanks to David and Rowena, who were such friendly, welcoming hosts. Our room was comfortable, spacious and spotless, and the homemade breakfast was delicious in a beautiful setting. Thank you both for a wonderful stay!

David and Rowena are a charming couple who work hard to make sure guests' needs are met. Their place is a wonderful base for nearby places of interest, including quaint Nairn itself. Breakfast was included, fresh and delicious, and David always had an interesting story or local anecdote. The rooms were very clean and cleaned daily. Unlike many European accommodations, the towels were fluffy and the bedsheets soft. Ask them about places to eat locally, and listen when David says to reserve ahead, restaurants in Nairn book up. 10/10.

It felt like a family home, though a very luxurious one. Our host showed us the sitting room and breakfast room, both very nice, and our front-facing room was excellent all around. It had a king bed, TV, chairs to sit in, lots of clothes storage, a beautiful ensuite and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom lights switch on automatically. I understand why the owners set them up that way, but in the middle of the night the bright light woke me up when I got up to use the loo. My sleeping partner woke too, though he soon went back to sleep. If you stand still, the lights go off until you move again, which is fine but a little odd. It took me a while to get back to sleep. Breakfast was excellent, but I'd ordered seasonal fruit and found kiwi in it. I'm seriously allergic, and hadn't expected it since kiwi isn't seasonal. I just left the fruit, but having it in the kitchen did put me off my food a bit. David entertained us with anecdotes and stories about his life, including his time in Africa. It was interesting, though his chatting while standing nearby meant we didn't really get to know the other guests at the communal table, including the French Canadians. It's hard to eat while giving someone your attention. I'm quiet at breakfast, so not needing to chatter suited me too. The hostess cooked the excellent food, but we never met her because she was on holiday apart from cooking. I didn't take pictures of the meal since it didn't feel like the place to do that, especially with David serving and chatting throughout. I'm not comfortable taking photos with the host around, so you'll have to take my word for how good the food was. All in all, a very good stay. I doubt we'll book again, as I'm not sure we'll be in the area.

The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable, with nice bathrooms and amenities, and the hosts were very friendly. They served delicious, beautifully presented breakfasts and even provided gluten free toast, which was wonderful. We enjoyed being so close to the shore for a morning walk by the water. The location also worked well for driving to Inverness and Elgin and visiting historic places nearby, including Culloden and Cawdor Castle. Great place to stay, and I hope to come back in the future!
