The Red Lion pub next door serves great hot food and beer, and there’s a handy bike shed at the bunkhouse. It was quiet and clean, with really good facilities and a well-equipped kitchen that runs on an honesty box. Communication before the stay was very clear too. Such good value.

The kitchen is the main thing to watch: although the hostel has around 20 beds, it really couldn’t handle more than six people, so large groups should be cautious. The bunkhouse itself is basic, clean, functional, and reasonably priced. It’s a bit far from the Pennine Way and Hadrian's Wall for an easy walk, but that does get you away from the crowds. The pub next door has beer and food, though there isn’t a nearby shop.

There’s not much else around, though a shop and gas station are a 10-15 minute walk up the road. The bunkhouse is a little off the route for Hadrian’s wall walkers, but the cozy, comfortable night’s sleep made the detour worth it. It’s clean and tidy, and the pub is right next door.

There’s a gas station about a mile away where you can buy groceries, and the city pub is next door. The place was calm and had been newly refurbished. Awesome stay.

The Red Lion Pub is two doors down and was exceptional. The accommodations were great too. What a wonderful place to stay, I think I’ve left my heart in England! ♥️
