My room was clean, comfortable, and had an especially good bed. The record player and vinyl were a quirky touch, and my son put Van the Man on. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the spot works well for walks, restaurants, and bars. I needed a room for one Sunday night near Newcastle and found a good rate. I knew it was above a busy pub and venue, so I wouldn't expect it to be quiet on a weekend. We also had Sunday lunch there with my son. The pub food was good, the Guinness was great, and I had no complaints.

After a dog walk, we stopped for lunch and had a lovely spot by the fire to warm up and dry off. The portions were enormous, and the food was tremendous, though I couldn't finish mine. Staff were very friendly. It's great that dogs are welcome, and I'd highly recommend it.

We stopped in for lunch for the first time on a Saturday. It was empty, which seemed odd for a place called ‘Pub of the Year’. We paid cash and were halfway home when we noticed the bill had charged us £11 for two teas. I posted a brief review so others could watch out for being overcharged. The owner's response called it a fake review and said tea costs £3. That was a poor and irresponsible way to answer a customer, and left me wondering why staff might be charging more. The owner was rude and unhelpful, didn't take responsibility for the staff, and made an accusation instead of addressing the complaint. They may want to rethink their claims about hospitality and community spirit. They did say guests would have an unforgettable experience, and that's true, though not necessarily a good one. I also found the Facebook reviews disturbing. There are several reasons to avoid this place. £11 for two small pots of tea is excessive. I wasn't impressed and felt ripped off.

We came back yesterday for Sunday lunch, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were attentive, and we'll definitely return. Thanks to Tom and his staff. We first stayed overnight last October. The room was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, with an extremely comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide choice.

My pregnant wife and I wanted a quiet break before the baby arrives, but booking here last weekend was a mistake. The extremely loud party music kept us awake until 2am. Don't stay here on weekends if you need a quiet night. The Noise Act of 1996 says noise should be minimal between 11pm and 7am. We'll take this matter to the local council.
