Communication between staff needs a lot of work. We held our reception here, and the service was okay, but the food didn’t meet the expected standard. One of our wedding cakes still hasn’t been returned, which felt really unprofessional. We’d told them we’d be arriving early, yet the rooms weren’t ready, and water was dripping in one of them. I also felt the drinks were being overcharged. All in all, it was an average experience.

The private conservatory worked perfectly for my Mum’s 60th, with 25 of her closest friends and family there. We had enough attention from the staff without being interrupted too much while we caught up. Even with such a large group, everyone’s food came out together and piping hot, and it was delicious. The drinks and service were just as good. Thanks to Grant and Linda and everyone from the kitchen and bar for making it such a memorable evening at The Newmachar Hotel.

The steak pie was excellent, with loads of flavour, and the staff were great too. Good value for money, so my best mate and I will be back soon. We went today, 29th nov 2025.

After relaxing outside in the scorching sunshine, it was lovely to come back to a room with a fan ready to cool me down. The room itself was lovely too. We found this gem while looking for hotels in Aberdeenshire, and the professional team gave fantastic service. The food and cocktails were some of the best I’ve ever had. I can easily see myself visiting this cracker a few times a year. 🌞

We never got our food, so I can’t rate it. After ordering, we waited an hour and finally had to leave with a hungry child because we had tickets for an event. We’d thought two hours would be plenty of time. Can’t give this more than one star.
