Aquarius B&B

Room 7 had everything I needed, and it was spotless, right down to the brilliant white towels and bedding. I brought my little dog, who was poorly, and Sarah was so kind to her. It’s a dog-friendly B&B, and Sarah works incredibly hard to keep the place clean. She even makes her own jams and pickles, and the chilli one is out of this world. This is the best B&B I’ve stayed in, and I’d recommend it. Sarah went above and beyond to make our week in Newquay lovely. Thanks for the best stay, Sarah. We’ll see you next year. 10/10 xx

I had to involve the court over a payment that had been overdue for months, and the host refused feedback, communicated rudely, and even abused guests openly in the street. My stay was cut short by three days despite being prepaid, with less than four hours’ notice. The host threatened to remove my belongings and made me leave immediately. I felt the host was openly discriminatory and entitled, and would advise anyone who isn’t white not to come here. The advertised free private parking wasn’t provided, and the host couldn’t be reached at check-in. Communication was hostile throughout. The experience was so serious that I reported it to the police. I strongly recommend avoiding this property. The host’s behaviour made a peaceful stay impossible and was unacceptable.

Breakfast was nice, though I’m not much of a morning eater. On the last day we were running around late, and Sarah saw how rushed we were and let us have breakfast 30 minutes past the usual time. She cooked it fresh, on her own birthday, so sorry about that! The rooms were spotless and a good size, with a beautiful view. You can park outside, or, if it’s really busy, just around the corner for free. It works really well as a base for Newquay and trips around Cornwall, like St Ives. This was my first time in Cornwall, my first proper UK holiday since childhood, and my first B&B, and all of it was great. Sarah’s place has such a lovely feel. After a six-hour drive we arrived to a warm smile, and she helped us with advice when our dog had eaten too much sand at the beach. She also recommended pubs and was helpful with everything. I’d told her we were visiting for my partner’s birthday, and there was a card and balloons waiting for us. Those little touches matter. We met her daughter and grandson on Sarah’s birthday too, he’s a very smart kid. Our little poodle was welcomed by everyone, maybe not the cat, but that was probably our dog’s fault. He likes saying hello to everybody, which isn’t every cat’s cup of tea! We were travelling as Kris, Mel and Bailey, and a genuine review is the least we could do. Cheers.

Sarah made us feel at home as soon as we got there, and the breakfast was delicious, cooked to order, with plenty of choices if a full English isn’t for you. We’d love to see a few more turtles when we come back. Willow the cat is a sweetheart. Thanks, Sarah!
