The Wi-Fi was weak, which was the only downside. Otherwise, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it stayed quiet at night. A good little hotel for a short visit, and I’d recommend it for the price.

Avoid this place. We’d only booked an hour earlier and hadn’t used the room, but when we politely asked the owner for a refund, he said there was a 48 hour cancellation policy and turned away. Later, Booking.com asked him to make an exception and refund us. He replied, “not my fault you can't get up a few stairs” (there were two flights, to be accurate; see attached photo). I’ve lived in Newquay for 33 years and am appalled by how we were treated. The welcome was poor from the start. A man behind reception who struggled to speak English told us to get our keys from a lock safe on the wall behind us. The person I assumed was the manager let us in, then sat facing reception with his back to us. Nobody showed my disabled mother to her room, so I carried her bags upstairs because she couldn’t manage two flights of stairs. This hadn’t been mentioned in the booking. The stairwell on the second floor had its wallpaper ripped off, and work was happening in one of the rooms. Our room was small, with a metal bed frame. The toilet and bathroom were shared. We asked if there was a ground floor room, but there wasn’t. I’m honestly shocked by their attitude. Avoid at all costs.

The rooms were clean, and Boots in the town centre is about a 10 minute walk away. We were three people staying for a couple of nights in a family room meant for four, with a bunk bed. Those bunks won’t suit anyone big or taller than 5'5. On our last day the shower broke, so one of us had to use the shared toilet to shower.

After travelling five hours from the West Midlands as a family, we arrived to find shared bedrooms and a communal shower instead of the normal rooms we had booked. They charged the full normal room price for communal accommodation. There was no privacy, and the service was rubbish. It was a terrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend staying there, especially in summer. I won’t go back, and it’s ruined how I feel about Cornwall overall. Don’t waste your time or money here.

The owner kindly went out at 10pm to sort out fans when it was hot, and I really appreciated that. We were warmly welcomed with the coffee and muffin offer while visiting people in Newquay. The rooms were fine for the price, and the place was clean. Thanks for the hospitality, anyone booking here should be happy. Cheers 🍻
