Towan Beach Holiday Flat

The flat was clean and very well looked after, and the location was brilliant for walking to both town and beach. There’s a parking space at the back, but it only fits a small car and there aren’t other places to park. There’s a lot of building work going on, and the noise woke us up every morning. When we let ourselves in, the damp, musty smell was awful, with a lot of air freshener being used.

The place was spacious and airy, with a decent choice of furniture. The kitchen was clean, including the oven and utensils, and the bathroom and toilet were roomy, clean as expected, with good water pressure. The owners were friendly and always answered when we called. It’s close to the shops and a short walk from the high street, in a quiet, peaceful and friendly neighbourhood. The Wi-Fi is basic, fine for social media and ordinary web browsing, but not streaming YouTube or Netflix. I rated it four rather than five because of a few minor things, based on what I want in an ideal place to stay. There were spiders and webs behind the TV and in every room, including the bedroom. Only two toilet rolls were provided for four adults over three nights, so bring your own in case they run out. The storage heaters didn’t work on our first night. Luckily it wasn’t very cold on the day we checked in, so we managed with extra layers. Parking is extremely difficult because the space is the narrowest I’ve seen. A Fiat Punto or Corsa would barely fit, and with anything else you’d struggle and might even scratch a bumper.

We spent a week here with the family and really enjoyed it. They had everything we needed, and it felt like good value for the money. The house could have used a little dusting, but I’d happily stay again.

We stayed from 10th June 21. The flat was lovely, in a great spot, and the owners were very helpful.
