The staff were easily the best part, always friendly and ready to help. The location worked well too, with the town centre about a 10-minute walk away and the station, golf course and beach around 5 minutes away, handy for walking the dog early. The room was small and basic but adequate, and check-in was quick. The decor and windows seemed due for replacement, and the small bathroom needed a facelift or at least a thorough clean. I also found the bed very uncomfortable and spent each night tossing and turning. We paid £200 a night for four nights in a standard double with dinner and breakfast, and brought our dog. Dinner was the main disappointment: choices were limited, much of the menu wasn't available, and the food seemed bland and lacking in flavour. We suspected it had been frozen and reheated. By the third night, although dinner was included, we chose to eat out for the final two nights. Breakfast tasted good, though we had to choose the night before, perhaps so it could be defrosted. We left disappointed and would stay somewhere else if we returned to the area.

Graeme and the staff are so welcoming and friendly, and we love staying here. This was our second year in a row visiting at this time of year. It's closing today for nine months of refurbishment after being purchased.

We were walking the John Muir Way and stayed here for one night. The service was amazing, and the food was really, really good, probably the best meal of our trip. Highly recommend!

It was easy to walk into town and to the station, and we felt very well looked after. A lovely hotel, with delicious breakfast and supper.

Breakfast was delicious and had a great range of hot and cold choices. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and our clean room was very comfortable. The hotel is nicely decorated and well maintained, too. It's a delightful place in a great spot, within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the Sea Bird Museum. I highly recommend the Nether Abbey Hotel if you're planning a trip to North Berwick!
