The gardens are especially lovely and peaceful in spring, and there's so much space around Gilmerton House. Between the indoor living areas, lawn, beautiful Laundry house, and grounds, our big group never felt crowded. We were there for our wedding, and the rooms, including the two cottages, each had their own character while being spacious, comfortable, and luxurious. Graham, who manages the house, was incredibly helpful and friendly through the wedding preparations and over the weekend. He was a big part of what made it such a success. Highly recommend Gilmerton House!

We used Gilmerton House as a filming location for an American TV show, and our cast stayed there for a full week. I didn't stay at the property myself, but the experience from start to finish was incredible. The house feels like a castle, and the beautiful green grounds would suit filming, events, weddings, parties, or private stays. Everyone, from management to staff, was professional, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Graham, the manager, went above and beyond to keep the production running smoothly. The service was top tier, and the food was consistently excellent. When we needed a local Piper, the staff arranged one without hesitation. I highly recommend Gilmerton House to anyone visiting or working in the area, especially for a production or special event. Truly one of a kind.

We had a comfortable bed and a gigantic bathroom in our bedroom, and the bed linens deserve a mention too, they were so comfortable. There are multiple sitting rooms and a lovely snug full of old books to explore. Our group also had plenty to do: foraging, a cooking demonstration whose food we later ate for lunch, a falconry demonstration, a little golf on the driving range, and local walks. The team worked hard to shape the experience around what guests wanted. The dinners were outstanding, including a BBQ in the beautiful refurbished laundry and being piped into dinner in the Music room. Whiskey followed, of course. I was thrilled to be invited to a birthday celebration at Gilmerton, and it completely lived up to expectations. Thanks to Graham and all the staff, nothing was too much trouble.

The house was warm and comfortable all weekend, and the open fires were lit and tended, making it feel especially welcoming. The kitchen was beautiful and so well equipped with glassware, crockery, and all we needed to share meals and drinks. From arrival, we felt at home. We had an incredible hen weekend at Gilmerton House for my sister, and couldn't have asked for more. Graham's communication was next level from the start, always available and helpful, which took the stress out of organising everything. He was on hand all weekend and even shared a thoughtful 5k running route for our runners. We've stayed in lots of large group places, but Gilmerton is on another level. Every room is beautifully designed, comfortable, and versatile, with lovely attention to detail throughout. The new garden rooms were fabulous for anyone wanting a little space from the bustle while still being part of the weekend. The place just oozes warmth, hospitality, and quality. It was the perfect setting for a special weekend and memories we'll treasure. We'd recommend it without hesitation and are already looking for an excuse to return.

The wedding weekend gave us room to make Gilmerton House feel like our own. We held the ceremony in the wood-panelled Music Room, then had dinner and dancing in the newly renovated Laundry House. Graham was right that no two weddings there are the same, and that was a big part of the appeal. We could choose from indoor and outdoor ceremony spots, and the Laundry House was a lovely, tastefully decorated blank canvas. Having the house for the whole weekend meant everyone could settle in. On Sunday we had a BBQ on the lawn; later, some guests chatted in the drawing room, others played billiards, and a few of us went to the driving range at sunset. It was a lovely way to end the weekend. The house is gorgeous, with incredible, well-kept grounds and a real wow factor. Inside, the original features and artwork sit alongside modern touches, and the result has a boutique hotel feel. It’s spacious but relaxed, and guests told us they felt at home and didn’t want to leave. The bright, roomy bedrooms each have their own bathroom, and the upstairs drawing room made a beautiful Bridal Suite, with flattering natural light and space to breathe. Graham and the rest of the team were a joy to work with. He was patient with all our questions, helpful and professional over the weekend, and attentive without being intrusive. You can tell he cares about the house and its guests, and he’s always making improvements, including the lovely new bathrooms beside the Laundry House. His idea to have our piper lead us into the Music Room made the ceremony feel so atmospheric, and our guests loved it. The supplier recommendations were useful too. We were happy with everyone we chose, including the band and piper. We knew as soon as we visited that it was our dream venue, and it had been at the top of our list since we got engaged. Each visit made us love it more. We’ve lost count of how many guests praised it, and were already talking about when we could come back as we left. Choosing the venue matters so much, and we couldn’t have asked for more from Gilmerton House. We’d wholeheartedly recommend it for a special occasion.
