The staff at the Plough were friendly, helpful and professional. Someone even carried an ironing board up to my room without being asked, and thanked me for holding the door. We were in Northampton for work, and the hotel was handy for the town centre and University. Our standard rooms weren't huge, and there was some road noise, though it wasn't an issue between 11pm-7am. They were spotlessly clean, with comfy beds, large flatscreen TVs and decent showers. Free, fast WiFi in the rooms and communal areas let us catch up on work and stream on my fire stick; the TV HDMI was easy to reach. The bar area was pleasant and also used for breakfast. There was juice, cereal, fruit and toast, plus cooked-to-order food. The cooked breakfast was great and came quickly on both mornings. I've paid a lot more for much worse hotels.

The team at the Plough were friendly, courteous and professional, and all the food was cooked fresh to order to a high standard. We found it very good value, too. Dinner was excellent, with everything cooked just right, and breakfast was a generous full English. Our room was spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom, which had a large shower. It faced the road and might be noisy on a weekday, but earplugs were available and we slept fine during our fairly quiet weekend. We’d happily stay again and recommend it.

We’d stay again, yes. The hotel is handy for town and there were lots of free parking spaces. Our big room had a very comfortable bed, soft towels and plenty of hot water, and breakfast included a great full English. There wasn’t a non-slip mat in the shower, and the cereal choice was poor. Granola or muesli would’ve been welcome. The road was noisy, though the hotel provided earplugs.

Breakfast was the best cooked one we’ve had in a while, and it was good value. The welcome at reception was lovely. Our room was good, though it was right by the road and a little noisy, which we knew about. The bar is a nice space but doesn’t serve food, so we headed into town. It’s close by, and rugby is an easy walk.

The location worked really well for us: about five minutes from the city centre, with Morissons, restaurants and a specialty coffee shop nearby, and the train station a short walk away. We could also leave our luggage there. Breakfast is fairly basic, with British breakfast, bread, butter, jam and juice, but they’ll adjust or substitute the cooked breakfast, and the coffee is good. Our room was warm, roomy and cozy, with a very comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. Some rooms hear the street more than others. My aunt’s was louder, while ours was quite quiet. The hotel’s age gives it a charm that newer buildings can’t replace. The reception ladies we met were so kind and helpful, especially Corina and Aphroditi, and the other two whose names I didn’t catch. The cleaning ladies took great care of us too. Thank you! When my step-father first saw the hotel on the way in, he joked that we might meet the ghost of Henry the VIII in the corridor 😅
