The staff make us feel welcome every time, and service stays quick and helpful even when they're busy. The food is good, though I'd like gluten-free choices to be marked more clearly on the menu. There’s plenty of space, a beer garden, three car parks, and the larger rooms look over the garden with a lovely view. It’s an old building, beautifully kept, with period features. I recently found out this local pub is wheelchair accessible. There’s a step-free entrance from the second car park, which has two disabled spaces, though more would be useful. There’s also an accessible toilet. Some rooms have a single step, but two areas are level. I prefer eating in the higher rooms. We made the mistake of turning up at 5pm on a Friday without a booking. It was very busy, and some rowdy kids were running and shouting without their parents stopping them. I felt for the staff having to deal with it. For a calmer meal, avoid that time or book well away from the family room.

The food was a real highlight. We’ve eaten in some lovely places, but the fillet steak here was one of the best, cooked perfectly and even better than Miller and Carter. We also loved the room, especially the comfortable bed, and the atmosphere and staff were fabulous. We had a small issue with the room, but it was handled better than we expected. We’ve just got home after an incredible two-night stay. Matt and Ed deserve a special thank you, and Kameron was fantastic too. Everyone was friendly, attentive and helpful, which is rare to find across an entire team. Thanks to everyone at Hartford Hall. We’ll be back soon. Keep up the great work.

I’ve loved dropping into the pub while staying at the hotel next door. Paul and Ed always make me feel welcome and looked after, and Mia was lovely too. The staff are consistently attentive and kind. The Sunday roast and lamb hotpot were both lovely, and the sticky toffee pudding is hard to beat. There’s a good choice of drinks, the place is clean, and the music in the background is good. It’s clearly popular, and I can see why. Highly recommend.

It was a hot, busy evening and the staff were working hard. Both dinner choices I’d picked were unavailable that night, but the fish pie I had instead was lovely, tasty and beautifully cooked. Two meals and two drinks came to £56, which felt a bit steep to me.

I’ve stayed here several times and the service has always been fantastic. Paul is especially helpful and goes above and beyond. The food is amazing, and the rooms are lovely, with comfy beds and unreal pillows. Breakfast is great too. I’d recommend it whether you’re travelling for work or pleasure.
