The only good thing was getting free food sometimes. Otherwise, it was a really bad stay and I won’t be back. There’s consistently no hot water in either the kitchen or bathroom, which is especially frustrating after being charged 2600 for rent with almost no flexibility on payment dates. Whenever someone jumps on the floor above, my shower starts leaking. The heater switches off every ten minutes, so you have to get up and turn it on again until you get fed up. Doors in other blocks are broken and left that way, meaning people can enter the living areas without a key card.

I want to report something that happened today, Saturday, 24/01/26, at about 10:15am. I was making a delivery and had parcels to take inside. The receptionist, a man wearing glasses whose name I didn’t get, wouldn’t open the gate so I could bring my car into the building. He told me, “The gate is not working.” I accepted that and parked outside. A short time later, another driver arrived in an unmarked van, and the same receptionist opened the gate for him without any problem. When I went in and asked why it worked for him but not for me, the receptionist laughed mockingly. I found that extremely disrespectful. In 15 years of delivery work, and as one of my company’s top five drivers, I’ve never been humiliated like that by someone whose job is to welcome and assist people. Fellow drivers, stay alert and don’t accept this treatment. To the company’s other employees, I’m sorry, this report is aimed only at that individual. Thanks! Wall

**Update:** Most of the problems below have now been dealt with, and I appreciate the staff’s efforts to respond to the review and improve things. But hot water has failed again over the past few days. It had been stable for around three months, so I’m concerned the problem may become recurring. Rubbish is also piling up outside St Peter’s Court on St Peter’s Street, by the shuttle bus stop and directly beside a fire exit. It may be that some residents are disposing of rubbish carelessly, perhaps throwing it from windows or smoking and drinking there. It’s unhygienic and could be a safety risk if access to the exit is blocked or compromised. During my four-month stay, the heating and hot water failed six times. There were many days when I couldn’t stay warm or have a shower. I also saw multiple rats on the site, which was very concerning for hygiene. My room faced the main road, so traffic was loud throughout the night. Wi-Fi was out for about a week and a half, which made studying and daily life difficult. The leak on the bottom floor has been repaired, but there’s still mould in that area. There were serious security concerns too. Sometimes doors were broken, allowing people into the flats without a key card. Radford is one of the areas with the highest crime rates in Nottingham. The shuttle bus used to run hourly and more often at peak times, but this year it was cut to six buses a day, four in the early morning and two in the evening. Given that trend, I genuinely worry the service may disappear completely next year. I reported all these issues, but they continued throughout my stay. Living here felt more like enduring conditions than having a home. Good luck if you’ve decided to stay here.

The Wi-Fi ran at around 300 mb/s and was flawless apart from one outage. The gigabit wired connection offers 1gb/s upload and download speeds, and overall the internet was very reliable and impressive. Reception and maintenance staff were friendly and always keen to help. You can also have parcels dropped at reception for collection. The ensuite is a little small and dated, with some mould showing on the ceiling, but the water temperature and pressure were fine. At night the room can get chilly because the heating is manual and only comes on briefly when you press the button. Maintenance suggested buying an electric heater, though you can also remove the radiator pin to get constant heat. The room I got was very different from the one advertised. The photos I saw were all of what I later learned was the “new block,” with a large open desk in front of the window. The “old block” has bigger rooms, but the desk is long and narrow, with a shelf above it. It’s awkward if you have a desktop PC with two monitors, especially as there are drawers on one side. The walls and doors are extremely thin, so you can hear people in the corridor and even in nearby rooms almost clearly.

The shared flats can have anywhere from two to six people, and there are studio rooms too. The rooms are a decent size, each with an en-suite bathroom, and the place is kept clean. Reception is staffed around the clock. There’s a shared lounge with sofas, a pool table, table tennis and vending machines, plus an on-site gym and laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers. The staff are kind and helpful. Since this is university accommodation, members of the ResX team usually visit St. Peter's daily, so students can contact them if they run into problems. Great place to stay.
