Park Plaza Nottingham

We had a comfortable, convenient stay. The hotel arranged a room with a big window and a lovely view over the Council House. It’s right in the city centre, close to the main attractions. Both the room and bed were spacious, and breakfast had a good range of fruit.

The rest of the staff were really nice during our hockey weekend, but breakfast on the second morning left me feeling unwelcome. My partner and I were put at a tiny table by the entrance, while later guests got to choose where to sit. When we went back for more food from the buffet, the staff cleared everything, including our coffees, which we hadn’t started because we were waiting for them to cool. Breakfast was lovely the first morning. It just felt like that team didn’t like the look of me.

I use this place for work quite often. It’s my dependable backup when my usual hotels, with their reward schemes or bigger gyms, aren’t available. The rooms are roomy, clean and comfortable, and the standard feels consistent. Being right in the centre makes getting around easy. The gym covers the basics, though I’d like to see them invest a bit more in it.

There isn’t much parking at the hotel, so you need to book ahead, but that wasn’t a problem for us since there are two NCP car parks opposite. The room wasn’t large, though it was comfortable, with a Nespresso machine, fridge and plugs beside the bed. Breakfast had everything and was really good. The bar was nice, but had only a limited selection of draught beers. Wi-Fi worked really well; the room’s LAN port didn’t.
