Perle Oban Hotel & Spa

The rooms were spacious, nicely furnished and came with good cookies and coffee, a thoughtful touch. Staff were courteous and very professional during our pleasant two-day stay. The blonde lady in the restaurant deserves a mention too, her warm smile and professional manner made things even nicer. I'd recommend the hotel. I only wish we'd left ourselves a bit more time to enjoy the spa 😊

We liked the central location and the rooms were lovely, but the service was poor despite the hotel's good standard. On Wednesday, 12/11/25, we came back at 10:10 pm hoping for one of the advertised cocktails. The barman called out that they were shut as I approached, then tutted when I said we were residents. He did say we could get a drink charged to the room, but when someone in our group asked for coffee, he said he wasn't making any because he'd just cleaned the machine. I asked for the manager, who had already left, then asked for whoever was in charge. The barman just walked away. We complained at reception and were told a manager would speak to us the next day. They took our room numbers, but despite our being around for breakfast and the next two days, nobody contacted us. We also found that every room had intermittent TV problems that night, with the sets switching on every 12 to 25 minutes. Reception said they knew about it. I stay in hotels every week, and I'd have been better off at the Premier Inn across the road for a fraction of the price.

We chose the breakfast option and were wowed by the dining room. The food was delicious and portions were generous. Our sea-view room was beautifully appointed, clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed. We stayed one night in October, and the place was super convenient for public transport. The only small issue was that repairs to the lobby's front door meant residents had to use the side entrance. It wasn't a problem for us, and I assume it's been fixed by now. I hope to book another night soon.

The rooms are lovely and the hotel itself is beautiful, but the service needs a lot of work. I booked a massage and afternoon tea for my birthday because the spa was the main reason I chose the place, and the whole family came along. Reception forgot to book my massage. Luckily I called ahead, and they managed to find a masseuse for a later appointment. The massage itself was great, though the spa was underwhelming. Dinner was frustrating. We waited over an hour for my son's chicken tenders and chips, and the server seemed to have forgotten both that and his drink. Instead of saying so, they told us it was just coming out of the fryer. By then my husband and I had finished our starters and entrees. The tenders were far too spicy for a five-year-old. The oysters with mignonette came with only a lemon wedge because the chef had run out of vinegar, and the tomato mozzarella salad had no cheese because the chefs had run out. Breakfast was sad too, avocado toast was a strange green mush on soggy bread. The concierge and servers seemed to work incredibly long shifts. We kept seeing the same people, and I wondered when they got to rest. I'd recommend this hotel for its location and room views, but there was no warmth, soul or attention to detail.
