There was plenty of parking, and the staff kept the tables clean throughout. They served the hot food hot and the cold food cold, with tasty sandwiches, quiches, sausage rolls, salads, and a really good chocolate cake. We held a lovely wake for my father-in-law here, and the service was smooth, thoughtful, and clean. Thank you to Elaine and the whole team.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast had lots of choice. The food quality was amazing, too. My family and I had a really wonderful stay. Everyone was so friendly and nothing seemed like too much trouble. I hear the hotel is being refurbished next year, and I can't wait to come back. A big shout-out to Emma at reception and the lovely head of housekeeping.

We had about ten of us getting ready, and the bridal room had loads of space and great lighting for it. We'd originally booked room 1, a lovely double, for a bridal sleepover at the alma lodge. When I asked the lovely receptionist for extra chairs, she upgraded us to the bridal room for free. Breakfast was lovely as well. Everything about the stay was perfect, thank you so much. I'd definitely recommend it. Xxx

It was quiet, and I slept comfortably. The room was clean and everything worked, though it felt like staying at your Nan's house, with decor that hadn't changed since 1992. The staff were helpful and friendly. For the area, it was fairly cheap, and the train station is just over a mile away. I'd stay again for a night if I was nearby.

The bed was comfortable, and the shower was lovely and hot with brilliant pressure. I was glad it wasn't one of those trendy rain showers I hate. The only little annoyance was the afternoon tea timing: Tracy told me it ran until 4.30pm, while the poster on the stairs said 5pm and the room welcome sheet said 4pm. The tea itself was scrummy, though I would have liked some butter with the scone. I could have asked Tracy, but she'd already done so much for me. Tracy was wonderful again on Sunday, sorting out the tea and being attentive without hovering. Earlier, she took me to my room and put the heater on because it was cold, though there had been an unexpected cold snap that weekend. I'd called before arriving to ask about checking in early. Sarah, I think that was her name, was lovely and respectful, called me back promptly, and when I arrived she remembered my name and had printed a new check-in form. Tracy then took over and was incredibly friendly, caring, and professional. Emma carried my suitcase upstairs without hesitation, even though it was nearly bigger than she was. With three busy birthday parties going on, she still made me feel like the only guest. Lynden was on the night shift, and as a smoker I went downstairs often. He gave me all the time I needed on both nights. Full marks, brilliant, thank you xx
