Wigham Cottage

We came for a peaceful rural break, and this secluded old thatched cottage in a valley surrounded by nature was perfect. It’s full of charm, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with lovely walks close by. Our hosts were warm, friendly and so helpful, and we really enjoyed chatting with them. The homemade cream tea waiting for us on arrival was delicious. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a Devon retreat, including for a romantic getaway.

Me, Fay and Pixie the dog 🐶 all loved it here. The hosts were so welcoming and left us lovely scones and cake. The cottage has two large bedrooms with beautiful en suites, and a good-sized living room with a Villager log burner that made for cosy evenings. It’s peaceful, with stunning views and great walks nearby. A fab place, blending modern touches with period features.

We’ve already booked another visit after this fantastic second week away. Shoshana and Edward went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. The cottage was warm, cosy and beautifully equipped, as well as spotlessly clean. There are plenty of walks nearby and further afield, including Dulverton, Baggy Point, Castle Drogo, Putsborough and Instow. Putsborough and Instow are stunning beaches, and there are lots more to visit. Don’t hesitate to book, it won’t disappoint.

The service was extremely poor. The owner, who lived next door, said the heating ran on oil and shut it off at night because it was costing them money. I got cold and sick during our stay. After we left, they charged £100 to our credit card without telling us. We hadn’t caused any damage, and we’ll make a formal complaint.
