Everglades Luxury Residence

We stayed in the garden cabin again, now extended, and had breakfast outside in the lovely weather. It's been two years since our last visit, but the welcome and high standards are just as good as before.

The room itself was clean, and the bathroom was decent and very large, but the host made the whole stay awful. I wouldn't have stayed if it hadn't been Valentine's weekend, when everywhere else was fully booked. I honestly don't think Jo deserved my money after the vile responses I got, and I've never met such a rude host. I would never stay here again. I'd booked the elm suite, but after driving nearly four hours I was told I'd been put in the cedar suite instead. Jo, the owner, said she was sorry and that it was still a lovely room because someone had booked the elm suite for three nights. She offered a refund if I wanted one, but it would've been nice to get a call about the change beforehand. Since I couldn't easily find somewhere else, I politely asked whether breakfast could be included to make up for the mix-up. She said not to take advantage, called the situation complicated, and told me to use nothing, lock up, and she'd refund me. That's a terrible welcome. We ended up ordering a takeaway, but there was only one bowl in the room. When I asked Jo for more cutlery, she replied that there were two forks. Seriously, how rude. The room also had a double bed rather than a king, so I'd paid the same for a smaller room and bed. I slept terribly because there weren't enough pillows and the bed was too small for me and my partner. I didn't dare ask for another pillow, since I figured she'd probably say we already had two.

The log cabin at the far end of the garden was spotless and beautifully furnished. Jo and Vern were lovely, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We'd be glad to come back and would recommend it to anyone.

The hosts were friendly and really went out of their way for us, especially putting together a huge breakfast. They didn't disappoint at all. Fantastic B&B, and we'll definitely be back.
