George Oxford Hotel

We’d already paid for the luggage storage through the app, so we felt we had to leave our three bags there quietly in case the man deliberately messed with them. We’d dropped them off around midday on Tuesday, using the service advertised on platforms such as Bounce. When we asked for a ticket, confirmation, or tag to identify them, the front desk man refused and said it wasn’t needed. He took a few quick photos, but got angry when we asked him to keep the bags together to prevent mix-ups. He was rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful. His words were: “We have hundreds of thousands of bag drops a day. If you’re not happy, then take your bags and just go.”

The shower pressure was 10/10, and the location is great. Still, £107 for one night felt expensive for the quality of the stay. I’d expect a much bigger TV for that price, since I could barely see it from the bed.

It’s in a great location, and the staff member seemed friendly, but I wouldn’t stay again. The room was very hot and the road outside was really loud. The place seemed clean, but it’s run down and needs renovation and serious money to bring it up to standard. When the neighbouring room used its shower, dirty water came up through our shower drain and the smell was awful. The shower panel also kept falling off. Such a shame given the location.

The location is great, but at £140 a night this felt worth about £60. The bed was hard as a rock, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and the shower door was broken so I couldn’t shower. There was mould on the wall too. They claim it’s a 3-star hotel, but it barely feels like a 2-star place.
