Paignton South (Brixham Road)

Our twin zip beds hadn’t been separated when we arrived, even though head office had been phoned before our stay and we’d paid an extra fee for it. Kieran Reed was on his own in the afternoon, but he sorted out another room and made up a bed for us while also checking in arriving guests. He gave us useful advice on getting to the college and car park. He’s an outstanding member of staff and should be recognised for all his hard work and attentive care for guests.

I was here for business and the place did the job. The room was clean and tidy, though the building seems a bit tired. There’s a big Lidl next door, so dinner was cheap. Work paid for breakfast, which was filling and unlimited, and I was happy with the bean-to-cup coffee.

Breakfast was fresh and had a good range, including options for our plant-based diet. The bed had a slight dip, which was surprising as they’ve always had better, firmer, newer beds, but we still slept decently. Great location, friendly staff, and definitely good value for money.

The room was clean, and the thermostat helped on a hot day. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The £5 charge for 24 hours of WiFi that worked well felt a bit cheeky, and I found it slow from 9pm onwards.
