After a day clearing a house, a hot shower, a cup of tea and a comfortable bed were just what I needed. It’s a fantastic old guest house, cosy and homely, with a traditional B&B feel. It isn’t modern or perfect, but it’s very good value for money and I love that. I’ll definitely be back soon.

I’d come back for business in Bristol, but not for a leisure trip. There’s plenty of parking and it was near where I needed to go. The dining room was lovely, clean and nicely laid out. Breakfast was included, with a decent little English fry-up, cereals and a choice of drinks. The man serving it was friendly. A lovely lady welcomed me, showed me to my room and explained what I needed to know. Mine was a twin room beside the main road. The room and sheets were clean, the floor had been hoovered, and there was a cup, towels and soap on the bed, which was a nice touch. The shared toilet and shower were clean, though there was mould around the fittings and on the walls, probably because there’s no ventilation. It needs cleaning and some kind of fix. The window had a significant crack and the light shade was crooked. The decor was dated, which didn’t really bother me, but the beds were uncomfortable. I slept badly because of the mattress and the noise from the road throughout the night. This isn’t a Premier Inn or ibis, so bear the price in mind when booking.

It was clean, quiet and comfortable, with a good breakfast and plenty of parking. It had what I needed for a short stay. We’ll be back.

We stayed back in spring 2024. Aztec West and Metrobus stops were nearby, so it was quick to get around. The room was quiet, and the traffic noise was calming despite being right beside the main road. Breakfast was good, though you had to get up quite early for it.

Although it’s close to Bristol centre, the guest house itself is a dump. I paid for a room with a bathroom and ended up with just a room because they couldn’t manage the place properly. It’s overpriced for a 1970s establishment, though still cheaper than the overpriced dumps in Bristol.
