The food and the welcome made this such a good group getaway. Every meal, breakfast and dinner, was fresh, full of flavour and really well done, and the team were warm and attentive without hovering. Our rooms were comfortable, beautifully put together, and we all slept so well. From the minute we arrived, the peaceful countryside setting felt like a proper break from everyday life. We’re already discussing a return to Hyll.

There are good walks right from the door, including the two-hour Charingworth circular, which you can find on the free OS maps app. Cafes, pubs and restaurants are also a short drive away. Hyll itself is a lovely place, with a beautiful building on a hill, stylish interiors, comfortable rooms and nice lounges. Breakfast was excellent, the restaurant was good, and the staff were very friendly and clearly keen to make our stay enjoyable. The one drawback was the soundproofing in room number 2, above a lounge where guests were noisy until late. It was Saturday, and I imagine the higher-floor rooms avoid that problem. When I raised it, the staff responded quickly.

Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had, beautifully cooked and great quality. Our dog was looked after really well too, and the sausage at breakfast was a thoughtful little touch. We slept brilliantly in a very comfortable room. The staff were attentive, and Steph deserves a special mention for being so helpful and knowledgeable. She made us feel genuinely welcome. We had a lovely stay at Hyll Hotel and will definitely be back.

We really got to slow down here. The hotel's motto is "to do nothing," and the three lounges are lovely places to relax with a drink before dinner or spend the evening by the open fire. Our courtyard room with a lounge was stunning, with thoughtful amenities and little touches. The staff were wonderful from the start and knew their products and workplace well. I have an allergy, and they had already checked with the Chef about what I could eat before we arrived, so it was no trouble at all. Stuart, the general manger, was helpful throughout our stay. My partner and I would absolutely recommend this hotel for a relaxing break in the Cotswold's.

Lara and Arthur made our stay especially nice. They were consistently kind and helpful, suggested nearby hikes and gave us recommendations. The team also accommodated our request to have dinner after half past eight, since we were getting back late without having eaten. We spent two nights over the weekend, and the room was fantastic. When we walked in, classical music from a BBC station was playing on the radio, which felt dreamy. Great service and an ideal location. I’d highly recommend it.
