We stayed one night in Suite 3 with my two young daughters, and all of us loved it. Everything felt like pure luxury, and we wished we’d booked more nights. The food at the Penycae Inn was exceptional. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.

We had a lovely couple of nights in room no.8. The decor was modern and chic, and the room was cleaned and restocked without us needing to ask. The only snag was a really cold bathroom because the underfloor heating was controlled remotely and hadn’t been switched on. Otherwise, perfect.

The staff were so nice, and room 11, the dog friendly one, was lovely and spotless when I stayed a few weeks back. I couldn’t fault it. I also had the chicken burger, which was huge and really tasty. It’s a beautiful part of the country, and I’d stay again when I’m not travelling for work.

After walking the waterfalls, we came back the next morning from pen y fan and they were closed, but still made us a coffee. The night before, the food at the pub was absolutely beautiful, and we sat by the fire with a beer. Staff and locals were all so friendly. I can’t recommend the place highly enough!

The staff were welcoming, and the grounds were really well kept. We stayed a couple of nights and found it a handy base for exploring the Brecon area. The room was very clean, with a large bathroom, rain style shower, comfy beds, and tea, coffee, water and biscuits provided. There was a nice outdoor space too. It was busy that weekend, but we didn’t hear the pub or other guests, and it wasn’t noisy. The hotel is linked to the pub, where you can eat and get breakfast if you like. There’s also a public park on the same land, which is handy and great for kids, plus a quirky little zoo by the pub and hotel. I’d say it’s good value.
