The Red Townhouse

Richard and Elaine are passionate, knowledgeable hosts. Along with a wonderful stay, I got some training in how to run a b&b to a really high standard. It left me feeling inspired and reassured about pursuing a career in b&b hospitality.

We were heading to Skye and stopped here for the night. The rooms were clean, the decor modern and the facilities nice. The friendly couple running the place served a lovely breakfast, and I enjoyed chatting with Richard and Elaine. There’s parking and WiFi too. I’d happily stay again.

Our room in the Mayburgh room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a very clean, roomy separate bathroom. Richard and Elaine are courteous, experienced hosts, and Richard makes poached eggs the proper way. My girlfriend and I spent a few nights here over a long weekend in the Lakes, and we'd certainly return. The house is well placed in Penrith, near the town's restaurants and an easy drive from the parks and lakes in the region. We came a few weeks after BnBs were allowed to reopen, so it may not have been the full experience the hosts wanted to offer. They explained the changes made to meet covid requirements, but those didn't take away from a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

The room was spotless, the king size bed was comfortable, and breakfast was great. The hosts were so welcoming and did everything they could to make our stay better. The dog was lovely too.
