The little cabin was clean and lovely, and the scones and little cakes were delicious. The hot tub was disappointing, though. It sits under trees near a swamp, so leaves and bugs kept landing in our drinks and in the tub while we were in it. There were also spider webs and sticky bugs all over the patio. We were asked in the confirmation email to call with our arrival time so someone could meet us at the cabin. Nobody answered, so I left a voicemail. When we arrived, no one was on site for 45 minutes, and a farm worker eventually showed us to the cabin. I only met the owner briefly by chance when the cows had got loose. We didn’t see him again during our stay or when we left, which was another letdown.

The service was friendly, and the farm-reared meat and eggs were some of the tastiest produce we’ve had in a long time. The shop is still under construction, but I’m sure it’ll do well once word gets around. It’s worth popping by to see what they have in the freezer.

We had a four-day weekend at the honeybee lodge and will be back in the summer. It had the lovely views and modern design we wanted for a weekend away, and the whole place was wonderful. The scones were tasty, too, and a lovely touch. Thanks for a great stay.

This was my third visit. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was lovely, and the hosts were friendly. It’s on a working farm.
