The room felt older and smaller than I expected. There was traffic and late-night foot traffic noise, the toilet moved a little, and the plumbing made a very loud racket when used. I think other travelers should know that. What bothered me most was the host’s public reply, which was sarcastic (“Maybe go book in the Ritz next time”) and included an account of events I don’t think was accurate. I’d shared my feedback respectfully and expected it to be handled honestly and professionally. On check-in day, we messaged around noon to ask if we had to arrive before 9 PM. Rob said no one would be available after 9 and gave us a code. When we got there at 10 PM, we couldn’t find the key box, so we had to call Rob for help. We called because we needed help, not to inconvenience anyone. Breakfast was served until 9 AM. We got to the dining room at 8:57, and the woman there asked how many breakfasts we wanted. I clearly said two. We were ready in time, but nobody came to take our actual order until after 9. We didn’t know the process and waited to be served, as we would in many guesthouses. Saying we “only ordered after 9:00 AM” makes it sound as if we were late, when the delay was in taking our order. We finished breakfast and left around 9:37-9:40 AM. We didn’t leave any luggage at the property. This is my personal experience, shared in the hope it helps others make an informed choice.

Carnson House is a gem, and I heartily recommend it. It’s an easy walk to the bus and train, the harbour car park and the Scillonian boat. I’ve stayed here every year, and the hosts have become valued friends. They’re welcoming, caring and ready to go out of their way to help. Thank you both. Breakfast is fresh and superb, with proper flexibility around the set meals and guests’ needs. It usually runs from 7:30 to 9, but they made it earlier for me when I needed that. They also make up and clean the rooms while you’re at breakfast. I wondered if a front room might be noisy from weekday traffic, but I’ve had no trouble. Superb, superb, superb.

Being right in the middle of town made the location really handy. We were a family of three staying for two nights, and the owners gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. The room was lovely, spacious and very clean, with tea and coffee and a TV in each room. The bathroom was spacious too, and en suite. Breakfast was freshly cooked, delicious and generous. They’ll make it how you like it, and there’s a small breakfast option for children. The owners were cheerful and warm throughout. I’d happily recommend Carnson House to friends and family. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We’ll be back.

Rob’s Cornish breakfast is the best, and the hosts are lovely and friendly. The rooms are clean and tidy. Sure, I’ve stayed in bigger rooms, but those were hotels, not B&Bs, and I’ve also had smaller ones. I’ve stayed here a few times and never had a problem with noise from the pub next door. It doesn’t even stay open late, so I don’t know why people complain about it. If you want a friendly B&B in a great spot for the station, buses and shops, this is the place.

Rob and Belinda made us feel very welcome, and the breakfast was great. It’s very close to the station and buses, with connections across Cornwall. A great place to stay. Thanks again, we’ll come back!
