I made a last-minute booking while working nearby and got a friendly welcome. The room was big and recently decorated, with a good-sized shower. The bed felt a bit low for me, though I'm just being fussy. Well worth visiting. I wish I'd arrived earlier for some food and a pint, but I'll treat myself next time.

The Coldstreamer is very handily placed, a couple of minutes from Penzance town centre and the coast, and about 25 minutes by car from Lands End. I visited the pub on Wednesday to finish installing the fire safety equipment, and wanted to respond to the previous review. Tim, the new landlord, took over last week and seems like a nice bloke. He's been busy putting his stamp on this idyllic, very old period pub and guest inn, and has wasted no time improving the rooms and pub. With new kitchen appliances due to go in very soon, I'm sure The coldstreamer will be serving food again and welcoming tourists and locals alike.

Thanks, Tim, from Julie, Andy and Brigette the dog. We had a gorgeous stay, with lovely food and room, a very comfy bed, and a gorgeous hot shower. It's an absolutely gorgeous pub and hotel, and the staff were excellent. x

I went in for the first time yesterday at 4.30pm for chips and drinks. They said someone had complained about my child the previous week, even though I'd never been in the pub before. It isn't child friendly, and I won't be back.

The room was clean and comfortable enough, and the Heliport is dead handy, which earns it a star. But there was no one around when we went down for breakfast, so we left, and the bathroom wasn't in great shape. The place was advertised online as serving food, but none was available the night we stayed. The bar was empty that evening, though it was a Monday. It could be great, but right now it feels overpriced for what it does and doesn't offer. Apparently it's changed hands a few times recently, and you can feel that. Hope the owners can make it work. x
