We loved the kitchen, dining room, living room and bedrooms, and the bathrooms are really smart. The place sleeps 9, has lots of parking and was beautifully clean. Open the front door and there’s a stunning view across the valley, or glen, as they say in Scotland. There are great walks nearby too. Pitlochry is a good base for visiting a distillery, fish farm and the visitor centre at the dam, with plenty of coffee shops if that’s your thing. And do visit Macdonald's the butcher's just off the high street. There’s fresh meat in one half of the shop, with a deli and veg section next door. The meat pasties are fantastic. This is simply the best place we’ve ever stayed.

Balvaig has a lovely Scandinavian feel, with high-standard furnishings and kitchenware. We enjoyed the beautiful cottage and its fabulous valley views. It makes a lovely base for exploring the glens and lochs in this very scenic part of Scotland.
