The Great Escape

The attached pub made our stay even better. Dinner was reasonably priced, with excellent steak and perfectly cooked burgers, and Elle gave us really friendly service with a smile. In the morning, we had a lovely home-cooked fry-up and croissants. The rooms are basic, which is reflected in the great prices, but spotlessly clean, with a comfy bed and a great overhead shower. Ed was friendly and welcoming, and gave us his number in case we needed anything. We really enjoyed our overnight stay and are already planning another visit. We chose this for a big family birthday meal at The Oak, so we could enjoy a drink or two, and the location worked perfectly for seeing friends and family nearby. Since moving away, we visit the area a couple of times each year. It's our first stay here, but certainly won't be our last. The rooms were spotless and well equipped for a short stay. It was handy to be able to book just one night, and some rooms welcome dogs, which suited us perfectly. Communication was excellent. Looking forward to staying again!

A great place to stay, with a lovely welcome from the people there. Our room was clean, nicely presented and had everything we needed, including a little fridge. The bed was comfy, the room warm and quiet, and the shower was good. The location is great for exploring this part of the country, about five minutes' drive from Rye. Breakfast at the Oak pub next door was amazing. The pub also had great evening food, good beer and wine, and a beautiful interior. We had a really relaxed, lovely time.

Having the car is handy, since it's just outside Rye. It's about a five-minute drive into town, or, I'd say, an hour on foot. The Oak pub was great too, with delicious evening food and a lovely breakfast. I really liked this place. It reminded me of a motel, but was so much better: comfortable bed, clean and quiet, plus a little fridge, kettle, tea and coffee. Ed was a friendly, accommodating host, and you can tell how much time and effort he's put into the place. We only stayed one night but will be back, and I'd definitely recommend it.
