The Shakespeare Inn

I spent Saturday evening at the Shakespeare pub with some friends for drinks. It was pleasant enough, and the staff were working hard despite how busy it was. I was disappointed they didn’t have draught bitter, just bottles, and only sold lager or cider on tap. I’m unlikely to return.

A no-frills pub without gourmet food menus, just as a proper pub should be. The music can get much too loud, though. On our last visit we could barely hear each other talk.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, even with the local drug and herb tradesmen around. It’s under new management yet again. Maybe, after a proper clean and a steep learning curve, this place could finally become a local success. It’s still early days, so we’ll see how this latest attempt goes.

This place isn't for me. I went in today and had a pint and a half of lager, while my mate had to settle for a bottle. Scott was helpful and sorted us out, though.
