OYO Plymouth Central Hotel

The staff made Christmas and birthdays feel extra special for my children, and I’m grateful for that. I stayed here for four months in total with my son. Everyone was friendly and happy to help. My daughter still misses Sarah in the breakfast lounge. It could get noisy now and then, but we never had trouble with other guests. Most were happy to chat. My only complaint is the lack of windows, though I can see why most rooms don’t have them given the location and layout.

The location is excellent, though nights can get noisy, especially at weekends. Rooms are spacious and most of the staff are friendly. Breakfast is continental but nothing exciting. I’d give the place two stars at best, definitely not three or four.

Most of the night staff were lovely, but the daytime workers were ruder to guests. The breakfast was disgusting, and they limit how many pancakes you can have. The council placed me here. On my first day, groups were drinking and smoking outside. I complained about the smell of weed, and a young worker, I think her name was Cerys, stayed on her phone talking to people. When I asked if she was on mute so I could speak with her, she laughed. I asked her to show me, and she refused. I keep seeing her outside smoking and on some livestream. I’m speaking to the council and referring three individual workers at oyo.

The room felt unsanitary, especially with an infant staying there, and even the kettle was disgusting. A staff member told me people had cooked in kettles before because there wasn’t enough equipment. The hallways smelled damp and unclean, mixed with weed and other odd odours. On our first day, other residents warned us about drug addicts in the halls and by the main entrance. Reception said the smell came through the vents and there was nothing they could do, so we had to put up with it all day and night. The staff were rude and unprofessional. After I complained, I heard them talking about me, saying I should leave if I couldn’t deal with it and making fun of me for speaking up. This was the worst place I’ve stayed. The price they charge is ridiculous. Don’t waste your money or time here.
