A proper old fashioned pub, warm and cosy, with a relaxed feel and no rush. The garden is attractive, parking is plentiful, and there’s lots of covered outdoor space. It’s dog friendly too. The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. I’ve been a few times and will be back very soon.

I came for Christmas lunch and they managed to fit me in that same day, even though reservations are normally needed two weeks ahead. The special menu was excellent, the atmosphere was nice and the staff were very friendly. It made for a great holiday meal. I’ll come again when I’m in the area.

The service was good, and the guy serving us was very pleasant. The veg and potatoes were good, and everything was edible, though only average overall. The lamb and turkey roasts tasted as if they’d been cooked earlier and reheated, or perhaps were packet slices. The gravy was a bit glutinous.

The place itself is stunning, like Downton Abbey with lots of fairy lights. The staff were cheerful and so pleasant, and couldn’t do enough for us despite having a lot of ground to cover. As for the meal, everything was out of this world. The roast chicken was delicious, and the sticky toffee pudding was a moreish dream. We’re going back regularly from now on. So worth it!

We had a great time on New Year’s Eve. Hazel served us and made us feel very welcome. She was a treat to talk to, and the whole experience was comfortable and amazing. The food was great too.
