The dining room was tastefully decorated, with plenty of space between tables, and the staff were attentive without hovering. I went with friends for a catch-up and had a very good evening. My chicken livers and black pudding were so tender, and the duck for my main was cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be back soon.

It was a pleasant lunch, and I’d return, though not in a hurry. The prices felt too high for what we got. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of room between tables, and it was very quiet when we visited. Everything came out hot and freshly cooked, and the service was friendly and helpful, but could’ve been quicker. The ribs to start were very tender, though they lacked flavour. They came with lots of napkins and a bowl of warm lemon water, which was a nice touch. The main was good but nothing exceptional, and the portion was generous. Puddings were pleasant, just pretty average.

The food was freshly cooked, tasty and generously portioned, and the service was good. The post-Christmas menu was limited, but what we had was lovely. We were celebrating my birthday, and it would have been a lovely evening if not for a major family argument at another table. There was shouting and swearing, with people storming out, coming back in and leaving again for quite some time. The restaurant manager didn’t step in at all, so the evening is memorable for the wrong reasons. We’d still go back, since the food and service were good and the prices fairly reasonable. I do think hotel staff should be more aware of how guests’ behaviour affects other diners.

We went to the New Year’s Eve party, not for an overnight stay, and wow, it was great. The food was lovely, and the Elton John tribute act was great, what a lovely guy. The staff were attentive. Thanks to everyone who made it such a really, really good night. Well done.
