Really welcoming place, with excellent service and meals that were great value. The prices are very reasonable too. We’ll definitely come back.

The pork scratchings were the best I've ever had, and the singer was genuinely good. The jokes were funny too, especially the one about the gulls flying upside down. Staff were so friendly and welcoming that I almost wished I'd booked a room as well. I was there with my brother, who'd come up from Devon for a funeral; he booked a room while I car camped outside, and they welcomed me in when I dropped him off. My brother rated the accommodation highly. He said it was warm and inviting, and after a nice hot shower in the morning he felt refreshed and ready for the long drive back to Devon.

We waited two hours for dessert, then were told the rest of the restaurant hadn't even had their mains yet. One of our party was cold and in pain from sitting for so long, so we cancelled. We paid, but the bill hadn't gone down even though we didn't have dessert. The meal cost £40 and didn't feel like value for money, even for Christmas Day. This was our family Christmas meal. The starter arrived 15 minutes into the booking, which wasn't a problem. The soup was delicious but there wasn't enough, and the bread wasn't warm. I got butter, but the other person didn't. Another member of our party was given the wrong starter and bluntly told it was what she'd ordered. She was elderly and didn't want to argue, so accepted it. We also didn't get the extra cauliflower cheese or prosecco we'd ordered. By then we'd already been waiting so long that we didn't want to cause another delay. The atmosphere wasn't pleasant. One waitress and the bar staff were friendly, but another waitress was very curt, perhaps because it was a stressful day. I don't like running down local businesses, but I hope this feedback helps improve future Christmas Days.

A cosy, quiet little pub, and the hotel room was lovely. Everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.
