The rooms were basic and the layout a bit odd, but that matched the price. Ours was clean and comfortable, and there was plenty to choose from at breakfast. The staff were welcoming, too. We booked mainly because it welcomes dogs, and the spot right across from the ferry is great. There’s woodland beside Barholm for dog walks. Bring a hairdryer if you’ll need one.

No licence, so bring your own drinks, which worked out well. We ate dinner at the nearby Narrows, which seems to be linked to the place, and the food was very good. Breakfast was generous and excellent. The Barholm is basic, but clean, and the staff were really helpful. Great value.

The view from here is breathtaking, and the food was very good. We spent a week here as a group of 24 and had a great time. The caretakers were especially caring and helpful. The rooms are clean, though old.

We had spectacular views across the Lough and towards the ferry, especially at sunset. The village is close by, so it’s a handy place to stop over. The friendly staff worked hard to make everything comfortable and easy. Well worth a visit.

The noise was awful, with men coming and going and shouting to each other in the hallway until after 3am. The stay was so dreadful that we got up and drove back to Comber. The decor felt squalid: wardrobes without doors, a mirror propped on the radiator, an ancient mattress and heavily stained carpets. I refused to use the bathroom. I wouldn’t risk the breakfast either, given my impression of the hygiene. I’ve never stayed in a bed and breakfast in Poland, so I can’t say what people there consider acceptable. Personally, I’ve never stayed in such a dive. I can’t understand the positive reviews.
