We left with nowhere for 18 people to stay on a Saturday night, no dinner, and no solution. We had waited so long for someone in charge that we missed our meal booking, and after the way things went, we wouldn't have wanted to spend money there anyway. Our group had booked nine rooms for a birthday gathering six months ahead. The email thread clearly gave the dates as 7-8th March, but when people arrived, staff said the rooms were booked for 9th March and they couldn't fit us in that evening. We'd all travelled a long way. The only rooms they could offer were a couple of family-sized ones, which didn't work for us. The young receptionist tried to find rooms at a nearby hotel, but they cost £60 more and weren't within walking distance. She said her manager wouldn't cover the difference or any food and drink, even though we'd planned to eat there. After an hour and a half, a young man who said he was a supervisor told us the manager, Courtney, was on site and speaking with the director about compensation. Courtney never spoke to us. The two young front-of-house staff had to deal with all our complaints while management stayed away. We heard about phone calls with directors, but nobody offered anything that would help. This was a major booking error, and it felt like nobody in management was willing to put it right. The booking system seems badly flawed, and customers were treated as disposable while the young staff were left to take the blame. Nothing has been offered since, though they have the lead booker's contact details. The managers or directors could at least offer some goodwill for ruining an important evening for so many people. Despicable.
