Royal Harbour Hotel

A bright, fresh and clean room with a nice shower, and a very helpful, polite chap on reception. My company had messed up the booking, but he was still great. It's perfectly placed for the town centre and sea front. I was there for work, but would definitely stay again if I visit.

The views over Ramsgate Harbour are beautiful, and the location makes it easy to walk everywhere. This characterful hotel is in a charming Georgian building, with cosy lounges, a garden and a fascinating collection of artwork throughout. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and comfortable, with excellent bedding and thoughtful touches. Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the place felt calm, welcoming and secure. It feels more like a stylish home by the sea than a hotel. A wonderful stay, highly recommended.

I booked ahead and called to ask a simple, reasonable question about whether early check-in might be possible. The way I was spoken to was appallingly rude and left such a bad impression that I've decided to cancel my stay. I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service. They need a much more professional and courteous approach.

The room was extremely basic, with mismatched coat hangers on a rail. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly, the shower never got hot, and there were no flannels, so even washing was difficult. When I tried to ask for some, I found out staff aren't on site and you have to ring someone to come over. That's unacceptable for a functioning hotel. Even getting in requires ringing a bell, and the tired, outdated building looks like it badly needs investment. At reception the floorboards creaked, and the gentleman handing over our key seemed uninterested in welcoming guests. We were abruptly told there was no breakfast and that a function with loud music would be taking place. The service and standards were poor, and the experience was deeply disappointing. I'd strongly advise against staying here.
