Grand Villa Heights

We booked this last minute for a few days away and would happily return. The hotel is well placed for walks and welcomes dogs, though there’s a £30 dog charge. Some renovations are underway, but we weren’t disturbed by them. Staff were really friendly, the bar area was lovely, and we enjoyed our evening meal. Breakfast was included, with plenty of choice, and was very nice too.

The sea views gave our wedding footage a cinematic feel that’s hard to find elsewhere in the region. Filming at Grand Villa Heights in Scarborough was a fantastic experience. As a professional wedding videographer with NL-Videography, I look for venues with character and scenery, and this place has both, from its modern luxury interiors to the North Yorkshire coast outside. The team at Grand Villa Heights were professional and accommodating, so capturing the couple’s day was easy and smooth. For couples planning a coastal wedding who want a venue that looks great on camera and offers attentive service, I’d highly recommend it.

On the wedding day itself, John and Steve were superb and kept everything running like clockwork. We were also in good hands beforehand. Evie was a pleasure to deal with, answered all our questions promptly and professionally, and made sure everything was arranged ahead of time. Donna Cope deserves a mention too. She replied to my emails quickly and showed real care. We had a wonderful day at Grand Villa Heights, and the whole team was exemplary. If you’re considering booking a wedding, come and meet them.

The location and breakfast were excellent, and although the rooms felt a little tired, they were comfortable enough. But an incident with our cocktails on Wednesday 29tj April really coloured the stay. We ordered pina coladoes and other cocktails, then noticed they seemed to be missing their main ingredient, alcohol. When I asked the waiter who brought them whether he’d added any, he looked shocked and sheepish. His coworker glanced at me and quickly disappeared through a door. I didn’t see them again for the rest of the evening, and after that they never met my eyes during the rest of our stay. The waiter who stayed began chatting with us a lot, which he hadn’t done before. It all seemed odd, so I planned to speak to management when we left on the 1st May. The manager became defensive as soon as I explained what had happened, saying nothing untoward had happened or would happen in an establishment like this. I wasn’t convinced. I left a letter and was assured there would be a response, but I’m still waiting. It could, of course, have been an honest mistake by the waiter. I’ll leave it to other customers to decide.
