We chose to eat at the hotel throughout our stay, and on the final night the chef made us a delicious meal from a different menu. The regular menu reflected well on the hotel, with food cooked well and presented creatively. The room was welcoming and had all the amenities we could want. As a pre Christmas break, we couldn't have asked for more. It's a great base for visiting small local towns or walking in some amazing spots. The location's great, and the staff were brilliant. Everyone cared about their work and offered help or advice about where to go.

We loved our stay over Valentine's. The location was perfect, the suite, the ivelet, was great, and we really enjoyed our meal too. The chef's excellent and the staff were friendly.

We had a lovely large room with an amazing view across Reeth. The hotel is beautiful, set in a lovely old building, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was a delicious full English. Would highly recommend!

Step outside and there's a gorgeous view of the village against a superb mountain backdrop. The hotel sits in stunning surroundings and is lovely itself. We had some booking issues and arrived without a room, but the hotel did an excellent job finding solutions. We ended up having a lovely stay.

I feel embarrassed that my recommendation let my in-laws and North Yorkshire down. They'd come all the way from Jersey for the week, and while they were visiting, some old friends came to see them, two from Norfolk and one from Glasgow. I suggested The Burgoyne because I love Reeth and had stayed and eaten there before, thinking it would be somewhere really special for them. They booked online, but when they arrived there was no reservation, even though the booking was visible online. It hadn't been written down, and there was no food available. The waiters seemed very inexperienced and didn't offer much of an apology. I thought the least they could have done was refund the drinks they'd already ordered and suggest somewhere else. They eventually booked a table at the pub across the road, but only after being prompted. The food at The Buck was perfectly fine, though it wasn't quite the experience they were hoping for.
