The Welsh soaps were such a cute touch, and there’s a Londis within walking distance if you want to pick up lunch before heading out. We found parking easily behind the place, though there aren’t marked spaces, so you just take whatever spot is accessible. It’s a handy base for beach time or going to see puffins. The rooms are decent, dinner was really good and breakfast was OK, and it’s currently included. Some rooms are upstairs, so you may have to carry your suitcase up, but it’s manageable.

The seaside view was stunning, and inside felt comfortable, spacious and quiet, with really interesting decor. The staff were lovely, joked around with us and were very engaging. The WiFi was apparently fast, though I hardly needed it with that view. We had the meat charcuterie board, Piccante Pizza, Honeycomb × Vanilla & Caramel + Maltesers, plus a Ginger Bear and Strawberry Taiquiri Mocktail. Everything tasted delicious and authentically Italian. They can box up leftovers to take home, if you have any.

The staff were super friendly and made a real difference to our stay. There’s parking for 10 cars behind the hotel, and we found it comfortable with enough space. The shower was tricky to use without splashing water onto the mat because the enclosure was small and the curtain didn’t do much. It wasn’t sparkling clean, but it was good enough. We thought this was the best choice in the area and strongly recommend it.

The location really is beautiful, and the staff seemed lovely even though they were clearly stressed. We arrived as a family of 6 at the Anchor Guest House around 7pm on a Wednesday, when the restaurant was quiet, and sat outside at one of the many free tables. After 5/10 minutes I went to ask at the bar whether it was table or bar service. They said table service, handed me menus and told me someone would come take our order soon. We chose our food, then waited another 20/30 minutes while the waiters ignored us. A young waiter eventually came out, very apologetically, to say they couldn’t take food orders until 9pm, though they could take a drinks order. That would have meant waiting another hour and a half just to order food, so we politely declined and went to The Ocean Bar next door. They were very busy but managed to serve us. I rarely leave a bad review, but it felt unprofessional and poorly managed that we were left waiting so long, then a young man had to explain the situation with no manager in sight. If the kitchen is overwhelmed, customers should be told straight away. Given the location and time of year, there should be better ways to keep staff from being overwhelmed. Hopefully management can improve things so customers aren’t left feeling silly and staff aren’t put in the uncomfortable position of turning people away.

Helen, the owner, and the staff made me feel very welcome. I arrived late for dinner, but they still served me at the last minute and were so considerate. There were complimentary snacks when I arrived, and someone showed me to my room. The room and surrounding area were clean, and I saw them disinfecting places after client contact. The view was wonderful, they were accommodating, and the value for money was great. I had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend this guest house. Thumbs up to Helen and the staff member who welcomed me yesterday, whose name I’ve forgotten. The whole experience was perfect!
