The Separatist Inn

We had four hours between a friend’s wedding and found this place through Around Me. The staff were lovely, took an interest in what we were doing, offered us a tab and brought bar service to our table, so we felt really comfortable. The plates were generous, and the food quality made the price feel worthwhile, even though we first thought it looked a bit expensive. Loved our time here and would recommend it.

That lunch menu was such good value, and the service was excellent. The food was really good too. This has become our new favourite, though they’ve set expectations so high I’m not sure they can match it next time!

The staff were so kind and made us feel completely welcome. Their efforts to make guests comfortable are worth a visit on their own. My partner and I had a wonderful stay and even stayed on after breakfast. I think we went back to bed and checked out in the afternoon! We were here in Aug for a wedding at Hodsock Priory. I sleep deeply, so the road noise other people mention didn’t bother me. My only suggestion was to have mirrors and plugs closer together for guests doing their hair, and perhaps add more sockets for phone chargers. Staff said both were being addressed. I loved our stay and will book again soon. My lady needs a treat.

The Christmas set menu was great value for the quality. There was a nice choice, and everything was beautifully cooked and presented. Staff were friendly and attentive, and there was a good beer selection in the eclectic surroundings. I’ll definitely be back.
