Rachel & Lyn made sure nothing was too much trouble, and the whole Elan Valley team deserve credit. The refurbishment is to a very high standard, with another surprise around every turn that adds something special to the stay. Owners and staff are lively and attentive, and the food is the best anywhere in Mid Wales. A real five-star experience in the heart of the beautiful Elan Valley. Well done, Mike & Pat

The setting is beautiful, with lovely decor and ambiance, and the staff were very attentive. But it was a very expensive evening, and I won't be repeating it. My partner's lamb was really, really delicious, as was his sticky toffee pudding. My garlic chicken with mushroom sauce and vegetables started out nice, but there was so little sauce that it turned gelatinous, and the whole dish became dry. The chargrilled brie starter was a disappointment too. I expected it to be soft and gooey, but it arrived as a very small wedge, chargrilled only on the outside and still hard in the middle, with a small piece of sourdough, a thimbleful of greens, and pickled onions. I'd been looking forward to the food for our birthday celebration, so it was a letdown. Lovely place and staff, but very expensive for food that wasn't up to scratch.

The service was excellent, and every meal was delicious, with portions that satisfied without leaving us overly full. Four of us each had a main and a drink, and the total came to a very reasonable £106. We came for a birthday meal for our partners and had a great time. The small, intimate room had just the right number of tables, with happy customers chatting away, and the decor was very cool. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely come back if we're in the area. I'll be recommending it to friends and family. Thank you very much!

We had a lovely Easter Sunday roast dinner. The food was very nice and plentiful, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The place is well maintained, with great decor and ambience to a very high standard. We'll certainly return and highly recommend it.
