A cosy atmosphere in this historic pub, with a good specials board, so have a look at that as well as the menu online. The food was really nice, though perhaps a little pricey. I had the pie, which was more like a casserole with a pastry lid, but still tasty.

We enjoyed our Sunday meal so much while staying nearby that we booked to come back on Wednesday. It’s busy all the time, so booking is a good idea.

We had a family dinner here on a Thursday and every table was taken, so reserve ahead. It’s a small, quirky old pub with low ceilings and loads of character, plus a lovely homely feel. The staff were really attentive and friendly. The duck and lamb dishes we ordered were delicious, and you could tell the produce was locally sourced. The food was amazing.
