Grantham Arms

The food was faultless, the rooms were lovely, and the service from the staff deserves real praise. The younger staff were polite and efficient, which says a lot about their training. We stayed last night with my partner and our two daughters for one of our get-togethers every six months. A five-star experience, and we’ll be back.

The staff made the place feel like a home away from home, looking after all of us so well, including our dog, who was delighted with the cuddles and breakfast sausages. Joe deserves a special mention. He was incredibly accommodating, chatted with us at the bar, and gave us great ideas for things to do. We’ll definitely return. We came for two nights to celebrate our anniversary, having eaten here before. The food was delicious, the portions generous for the price, and the chocolate mousse was unreal. Breakfast both mornings was good value too, with hot and cold options. Our room was quirky and suited us perfectly.

A lovely old pub with plenty of outdoor seating, good food, and a clean, spacious room. Everyone on staff was friendly. We had our dogs with us, and there’s a nice walk over the road beside the river and weir. We’ll stay again when travelling between Sussex and Scotland.

The snug was my favourite part of the GA, with its intimate feel, and the decor throughout is stylish and unusual. Staff were attentive across our two courses. My meal was excellent, though my husband’s steak was a little tough. We mentioned it to our server, but it didn’t spoil a very enjoyable evening.
