Rockingham Arms By Greene King Inns

We booked two nights at The Rockingham Arms and would recommend it for a stay or a meal. Our family room was clean, spacious and pleasant, and being across the road from the main building kept it quiet. The whole place was spotless. The food was good quality, portions were generous and prices were very reasonable. Service was friendly, polite, lively and efficient.

We had a lovely meal in this pub, which has a traditional feel and a good range of food. Megan served us efficiently and brought our food and drinks promptly. I'd happily recommend the place.

The restaurant was nicely decorated and the setting was lovely, but the service was a bit of a calamity. We were told basic items like burgers weren't available, then had several other menu choices ruled out after ordering. With four of us, two adults and two kids, the meals arriving at different times was frustrating. The food was a mixed bag once it finally came. The pie was overcooked and poor value, and really should have come with a pot or boat of gravy. The mushroom tart felt like a rip-off. The desserts were nice and the kids' meals were really good, though. We won't be hurrying back, as there are better places for a lot less money.

We came for a birthday meal with the whole family, including my 15-month-old. I asked the waitress to warm his sealed food pot, something other pubs and restaurants usually do, but they refused, citing cross-contamination. He has no allergies. They said they used to warm everything else, so they didn't want his baby food contaminating it. That says a lot about the food. This is one of the biggest pub chains, yet they couldn't heat something in one of the many microwaves they use for the rest of the average, overpriced food. Thanks.
