The rooms were spotless, and the location right on the harbour was fantastic. Just be aware there are stairs. The owners were so helpful, even before they knew we were staying with them, and added some lovely little touches. It’s a very laid-back place, much like the island itself. Don’t expect the Ritz, but it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Thanks so much.

We stayed in the twin room on the third floor, which had a great view. The bedroom was spotless, and the bathroom was very spacious, with both a bath and a shower. Andrew, the landlord, was lovely and helpful. I can’t wait to come back in September for my husband’s birthday.

The decor is original, the place was clean, and a lovely family runs it. A full Scottish breakfast is available, and it was filling enough to keep my husband and me going until evening. Worth a visit.

My husband and five others have just returned from a stay here for a fishing weekend, and they all thought it was excellent. The staff were brilliant and very accommodating, the price was great, and breakfast was fantastic. They’ll definitely be back. Book directly with the hotel.

I can’t believe the good reviews. We booked an overnight bed-and-breakfast stay for £69 and were told there was parking, but it turned out to be a pay car park at £1 an hour. Everywhere else had double yellow lines. There was only a cleaner in the building, which wasn’t a great first impression. As soon as I came through the front door I could smell damp, and all the air fresheners didn’t do much to cover it. The room was tiny, with only curtains on the window, so we decided not to stay. Everywhere else was fully booked, but thankfully we drove along to the Glenburn hotel. It was beautiful, and for £20 more than we’d paid at bute house hotel we got an overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. I wouldn’t recommend this place even to my worst enemy!
