The Ardyne

Jane was a gentle, genial host, and made us feel very welcome during our short stay. We could use the front window sitting area in the dining room whenever we liked, taking in the peaceful bay views, having a drink or bringing in takeaway food in the evening. Our first floor en-suite room was at the back, overlooking the garden, with a huge comfortable bed and loads of space. Breakfast downstairs was super, with juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurt to start, then freshly prepared cooked options, plenty of tea and toast. The classically styled house looks across the bay towards the distant Highlands. It's a short, level 15 minute stroll along the coast road from Rothesay town centre, perfect in our view.

Jane and her dog Alfie made us feel right at home, and breakfast was cooked to order. The rooms are warm and inviting, and the guesthouse has a homely feel. We could also relax in the lounge, enjoy the view or have a drink bought at the bnb. I'm so glad I chose the Ardyne.

The views from the front window and lawn sitting area were spectacular, and it was handy for town while still being quiet. Our hosts shared maps and information about attractions and couldn't have done more for us. Breakfast was brilliant, and they even tracked down kippers for me. The room had space for a small sitting area, which was thoughtful, and an enormous bed. It was a fantastic find. A couple of spots had been missed during cleaning, and the room felt a little tired.

After a 16 hour day catering a wedding on the island, our Airbnb host let us down. Jane answered our call at 3am and rescued us with a room. We were so grateful to get comfortable sleep after such a long day, and she even made us coffee before we left in the morning. She's a salt of the earth host, and the lounge has lovely views because it's right on the seafront. Thank you again, Jane!
