The Rag at Rawnsley

I don't know Cannock well, but after staying here I can see it making a good base for some exploring, and I'm thinking about planning another trip. I originally booked because it was close to the job I was working on, but I'll book well ahead for my next stay. The room was really lovely, clean, comfortable and well equipped, and breakfast set me up nicely for the day. Highly recommend.

We usually get looked after really well at the Rag, so this visit was a real disappointment and spoiled my birthday meal with the family. There were six of us, five pensioners, and my father-in-law and I had to put our coats back on because we were cold. We were seated in the drinking bar near the door, where each person coming in brought in a draught. I understand a large party had the area where we normally sit with our dog, but I don't think we should have been put there. My gammon was so tough I couldn't eat it. This is very out of character for the Rag, and I hope it was a one-off. If I book again, I'll make clear that pensioners are coming with me and that we can't be seated in that section.

Really good value for the quality, and the food was stunning. The team were so friendly too. This pub restaurant is a gem and definitely worth adding to your list!

We warmed up by a lovely log burner after a chilly walk around Cannock Chase. I had a fantastic Sunday lunch here with friends and our dogs. The service was really friendly, and they brought water for the dogs. We'll definitely be back!
